Масленица - shrovetide it's a holiday that annually celebrated in the end of winter. actually, it's a pagan holiday, that was created more than 500 years ago. in russia we celebrate it the whole week before lent. it's a tradition to make pancakes or "blini" and eat it with jam, honey and milk. in the center of sunday's festival - effigy of winter, that always burn. that means winter is over and it's time for spring to come.
