Nikolaev is primarily known as the city of shipbuilders . this is no accident . nikolaev was founded in 1789 as a shipyard . the city is located near the black sea and is a major sea and river port. therefore, it is the center of shipbuilding in ukraine . in addition, the city has also an easy , perfume and food industries. mykolaiv is also great transport links.nikolaev has two universities - nikolaev shipbuilding institute and the pedagogical institute . one of the attractions is the nikolaev astronomical observatory . among the cultural institutions theaters ukrainian and russian drama , musical comedy , puppet theater , the philharmonic society . one of the most famous museums are nikolaev shipbuilding museum and art museum named vereshchagin .
