Charity is quite popular these days. People have become more open and kind-hearted. In general, charity means the voluntary provision of assistance to those who need it. Charitable assistance may include the act of donating money, goods, time, attention, and kindness to the unfortunate. Most forms of charity mean giving basic necessities like food, water, clothing, shelter, health care, and more. There are so many charitable organizations in the world today. They allow people to donate either directly or online through websites. Charities also include orphanages, food banks, religious institutes, and hospitals for the poor. Donating things you no longer use is a form of charity. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a lot of toys or warm clothes for the winter. Sometimes people just can't find a job to earn enough money. Others are sick, disabled, or elderly and unable to move independently. These are the cases when charity helps. If everyone made charity a part of their lives and helped those in need, the world would be a better place to live. Mother Teresa once said, “In order to truly give alms, you must be free from selfishness!” And it is true. Acts of mercy come in many different forms. If you've ever helped plant a garden or donated your jar of coins to someone who needs it more than you, then you already know what charity is. However, true charity does not only mean giving away money and unnecessary things to others. True charity begins with a kind word you said to someone on a bad day, with a sincere smile and with love.
