История банкнот России. Бумажные деньги в России появились в 1769 году, когда царствовала Екатерина Вторая. Как и в Древнем Китае, впервые вбросившем в оборот деньги из бумаги, основной причиной служил неудобный расчёт, когда крупные суммы приходилось набирать медными монетами.
