Last week i was working away from home and found that i had in my pocket ten pence. “right,” i thought. “i’ll go to the bank.” i found a bank in the high street, went in and made out a cheque card      for fifty pounds. i handed it to the cashier  . she looked at it for a moment. “i see you have your account at a different branch      ,” she said. “can i see your cheque      for identification? ” “of course,” i replied, and handed it to her. “thank you, sir,” she said. then she handed me some banknotes, saying, “that’s two twenties    and one ten        – that makes fifty.” “thank you,” i said.
