More than a month passed, and Hansel did not recover. The old woman's patience broke, she decided to cook it.

She made Gretel apply water, but before cooking the boy, she wanted to bake cookies. The old woman told the girl to go into the oven and see if the gingerbread was baked. So the witch wanted to roast the girl. But she was trickier. Gretel pretended not to know how to get into the oven. Angry, the old woman herself looked into the oven to show the girl an example. At that moment Gretel closed the door behind her.

The sister and brother gathered precious stones, of which the witch had many, and returned home safely.
