Hi everyone!
Well, here I am in Mexico! I’ve arrived! I’m slowly getting used to the fact that after ages working in that boring office, I’ve finally got three months to do what I like! I met up with Helen OK – she’s been working as a volunteer in a children’s orphanage and now her Spanish is really good. She’s just learned by talking to people – but I’m glad I had those lessons before I left.
Mexico City was very hot and the pollution was terrible, so we moved on quickly and travelled by overnight bus to Oaxaca, which is beautiful. We’ve found a room in a very cheap hostel, and yesterday we went to the market, which was fascinating. It’s completely different to anywhere I’ve ever been – and all full of smells, some are wonderful, and others are not! So far I’m managing to carry everything on my back – but I mustn’t buy too much!
We’ve joined up with some other people who are travelling, and we might go with them as far as Honduras. One of them has parents who are working there and perhaps we’ll go and see them, if there’s time.
Anyhow, I’ll be in contact again when we find another Internet café – email is an amazing way to stay in touch, isn’t it? I do miss you all – but don’t worry, I’m having a fantastic time. Can’t say I miss the English rain, though!
