I'm from Uzbekistan. We are preparing pilaf for the new year. Pilaf is one of the traditional dishes of Uzbekistan. Pilaf in Uzbekistan is not just a food, it is a whole ritual and way of life.

I'm from Uzbekistan. At New Year we usually eat palov, turkey and fruit.

However the official New Year is celebrated in accordance with the European calendar, in Uzbekistan we also celebrate Navruz.

Navruz is considered to be the oriental New Year.

It is celebrated on 21 March, on the spring equinox.

On this day, we always have sumalak, kuk-samsa and chak-chak.
