In the 16th century the  stratford-upon-avon was a  commercial town surrounded by the richfarmland. its markets attracted people from miles around. the  names of some streets tell us today what was made or sold in these streets, for example the  sheep street or  the    wood street.  john shakespeare was a  son of the  farmer who came to the  stratford to find his fortune. не becаme a  glovemaker. with the  money he made, he bought the  house in henley street. не also married well. mary arden came from a  rather rich family. in april 1564, mary and john had a  son - william. the  exact date of his birth is not known, but many people believe that it was on 23rd of april. today shakespeare's birthday is marked with a  parade through the  stratford in which people from аll over the  world take part.
