Many great cities of the world were built hundreds of years ago. During their long history some of them were destroyed several times for one reason or another, and then rebuilt. London, for instance, was burnt down in the Great Fire of 1666. When Napoleon’s army entered Moscow in 1812, the city was nearly empty and in flames. Most of the houses were soon destroyed by the fire, and many were badly damaged. A lot of beautiful cities were left in ruins after the World Wars. Serious damage is done to cities and villages by floods, hurricanes and earthquakes and still more by wars and industrial pollution.

Acouple of years ago, i saw 'i, robot' at the cinema. i probably wouldn't have read the book if i (had not seen) the film. but actually i really enjoyed it. i think you(2) (will like) it if you're a fan of science-fiction. the book is a collection of nine short stories. my favourite was the first one, called "robbie". it's about an american family, who get a robot called robbie for their daughter gloria. gloria loves robbie, but her parents start to worry. they think that she won't make human friends if she(3) (spends) all her time with a robot. so they decide to retum robbie to the factory. gloria is very upset, so her parents decide to buy her a dog. they think that if she had a pet, she(4) (would forget) about robbie the robot. but gloria is still unhappy. so her parents decide to take her to the robot factory. they think that it would help her she(5) (saw) that robots weren't humans. but what(6) (will happen) if they meet robbie at the factory? if you( (read) the book, you'll find out!
