Catherine's miles established on the route of Catherine II from St. Petersburg to Sevastopol in 1787. They were installed every ten miles. There are triangular versts between them every mile. The production and installation of these peculiar road signs was completed in 1786. At the same time, a road was built for the first time connecting Sevastopol with Simferopol. Over the years, stone versts disappeared and were dismantled. There are no more than five Catherine miles left in Crimea.
