- hello mary! how are you? i have not seen you for ages!

- hello kate. i am fine, thank you. i am not too good because of this weather.

  - yes, you are rifgt. we never used to have weather like we have these days.

- no, i know. there doesn't seem to be any satbility any more. it's cold when you expect it to be warm and warm when you expect it to be cold.

- they say it's a lot to do with the greenhouse effect.

- i have heard about that. doesn't it come from all the carbon gasses we're putting into the atmosphere?

- not to mention central heating and air conditioning. the gasses stop the sun's heat escaping into space, just  like the glass in a greenhouse does.

- so, the heat is trapped in the atmosphere making it hotter and hotter. it may be all for plants, but not for us. i think it is scary.
