by 1918, more than 200 thousand people lived in kazan. the city was one of the largest in the country. by 1920, only 146 thousand remained in the city, a quarter of the settlement was carried away by war and disease. more than 50 nationalities lived in the city: 73.95% - russians; 19.43% tatars; 3.47% - jews; 3b 0.4% - chuvashs; 0.09% mari and 2.69% - other.
