The child sat on a rock and looked at the river. she sat (1) perfectly still, looking at the family of ducks circling around on the surface of the dark water. her eyes were large (2) greyish in colour and solemn. it was a (3) wonderful day in august. the sky was a (4) beautiful blue arc and (5) untouched by clouds, the (6) golden sun - a perfect sphere , and on this (7) colourful summer's aftermoon nothing stirred. the only sounds were the faint (8) buzzing of a bee flying above the roses. the child remained fascinated by the wildlife on the river, and so intent was she in her (9) concentration that she hardly moved. isn't it an ideal picture of one's happy (10) childhood.
