Akhmatova, anna andreevna (real name gorenko) was born on june 11 (23), 1889, near odessa in the family of a hereditary nobleman, retired engineer-mechanic of the fleet aa. gorenko. from the mother i.e. stogovoy. a. akhmatova was in a distant relationship with anna bunina, the first russian poetess. her maternal ancestor akhmatova considered the legendary horde khan ahmat, on behalf of whom she formed her pseudonym
