With regard to water resources of the country, despite the fact that most of the country is desert, but in kazakhstan there are 8,5 thousand big and small rivers. the largest ones are the ural, emba, syrdarya, ishim, ili, irtysh and tobol. one of the largest lakes in kazakhstan is lake balkhash. today, kazakhstan pays great attention to the preservation of ecosystems, flora and fauna of the aral sea, which is partially located on the territory of the country. also kazakhstan is the whole northern and part of the eastern coast of the caspian sea is 2340 km. almost in kazakhstan there are about six thousand species of plants, its open spaces you can find about 500 species of birds, 178 kinds of animals, 49 species of reptiles, 12 species of amphibians, and in the rivers and lakes about 100 species of fish. most of the forests in the country is in the mountains of northern tien-shan and altai. here there are juniper forests and alpine meadows, gorges grow apple trees and walnut trees. among mammals living in the territory of the northern tien shan, highlights of the snow leopard, brown bear, siberian ibex. taiga forests are found on the territory of the altai mountains, where kazakh territory was created a nature reserve on markakol lake. here, in the taiga forests are inhabited by such rare birds as the capercaillie, hazel grouse, white grouse. exciting and fascinating to watch are the steppes of kazakhstan. here you can find a few hundred species of birds that live in the area, numerous freshwater and saline lakes. on tengiz lake in central kazakhstan dwells one of the rarest and most beautiful in the world bird species - pink flamingos. for their protection the government of kazakhstan was created the kurgaldzhino nature reserve. nature kazakhstanbased deserts of kazakhstan to highlight the desert betpak-dala desert plateau ustyurt, the sandy desert kyzyl kum desert muyunkum and aral karakum. here are gazelles and jerboas, and the storm all desert – viper. in addition to her in the territory of kazakhstan, it was revealed 16 species of snakes. of course, we cannot forget about the biggest lizard, which lives only in the sands of the kyzyl kum – the grey monitor lizard.
