Царское правительство проводило в белоруссии и литзе политику национального угнетения.сложная международная обстановка начала xix в. заставляла правительство александра i проводить осторожную политику в отношении польского дворянства.в связи с пожеланием польского дворянства в 1803 г. виленская академия была преобразована в университет, ставший в дальнейшем центром польской культуры. был принят ряд мер и по отношению к местному дворянству. правительство николая i расправилось с участниками польского восстания 1830—1831 гг., конфисковав у них землив 1840 г. николай i отменил действие литовского статута в украинских и литовско- губерниях и распространил на них законодательство.
