1)manhattan is an island, isn't it? - yes, it is.2) in new york most streets go east and west, and what about the avenues? the avenues in new york  are generally north-south (uptown/downdown) things. 3) which avenue is famous for its shops?   5th avenue in new york   is famous for its shopping. 4) what can visitors see in the metropolitan museum?   in the metropolitan museum   visitors can see large art  collections   beginning with egyptian art with pieces dating back to the 4th century a.d, and ending with modern painting or sculpture.
