The united kingdom of great britain and northern island is situated on the british isles not far from europe. it consists of the island of great britain, the north-eastern part of ireland and a great number of small islands. such as: the orkney, the hebrides, the isle of white and many others. if you look at the map of europe you will see that great britain is not large. it takes 6 hours to travel in a fast train, from london, the capital of england, to edinburgh, the capital of scotland. and the june from london to plymouth takes a little over 4 hours by train. there are 4 part of great britain england, the capital is london, scotland the capital is edinburgh, wales the capital is cardiff and northern island the capital is belfast. great britain lies not far from continent. it is separated from europe by the north sea and england channel. the channel in it's narrowest part the strait of dover is only 32 kilometers. great britain has a very good geographical position, as it lies on the crossways of the sea routes from europe to other parts of the world. the sea connects britain with most european countries such as: belgium, holland, denmark, norway, russia and some other countries. the main sea route from europe to america also passed thought the channel.british climate is mild and damp. it often rains frogs are quit frequent especially in the west and south-west. the gulf stream a warm ocean current warms to seas around the british coast moderating the climate, giving it cold summers mild winters. the temperature in winter seldom falls below zero and the field and meadow are green all year round.

My household duties (2)i live with my mother and father. i like to help them. every sunday i clean my room. i take the vacuum — cleaner and clean the carpets. i sweep the floor, dust the sofa and the chairs, i try to dust the furniture in a proper way.we have got many flowers at home. twice a week i water them. i like flowers very much.but best of all i like to lay the table. i do it carefully. i spread the table cloth and then i put out table — mats to protect the table from hot plates and dishes. a small mat for each guest and larger ones for the hot dishes. i put out the cutlery, which clean and polish every week, and i sharpen the carving-knife.the cutlery is kept in a drawer in the sideboard. the wine-glasses are kept on shelves in the sideboard. i take out of the drawer in the sideboard all the cutlery — a fish-knife and fork for the fish, a large knife and fork for the meat, a small knife for the butter and fruit-knife for the dessert. then there is a pudding-spoon and a fork for the sweet, and a soup-spoon for the soup.i put the knives and the soup-spoon on the right-hand side and the forks on the left, except the pudding-spoon and fork which i put across the top. then i put the serving — spoons and forks, the carving-knife and fork, the bread-board and a knife to cut the bread. on the left of each guest i put a small plate for bread and on his right a wine-glass if we are having wine. and i am ready for the guests to come.    мои обязанности по дому (2)я живу с мамой и папой. мне нравится им . каждое воскресенье я убираю в комнате. я беру пылесос и чищу ковры. я подметаю пол, застилаю диван и стулья, стараюсь хорошо стереть пыль с мебели.у нас дома много цветов. дважды в неделю я их поливаю. мне нравятся цветы.но больше всего я люблю накрывать на стол. я делаю это аккуратно. я расстилаю скатерть и ставлю подставки, чтобы защитить стол от горячих тарелок и блюд. для каждого гостя ставится большая и маленькая подставка для горячих блюд. я выкладываю столовые приборы, которые мою и чищу каждую неделю, и точу нож для разделки мяса.столовые приборы хранятся в ящике серванта. я достаю из ящика серванта все столовые приборы — нож и вилку для рыбы, большой нож и вилку для мяса, маленький нож для масла и нож для десерта. затем ложку и вилку для сладкого и суповую ложку.я кладу ножи и ложки для супа справа, а вилки слева, кроме ложки и вилки для сладкого, которые я кладу выше. потом я достаю вилки и ложки, нож для разделки мяса и вилку, дощечку и нож, чтобы нарезать хлеб. слева от каждого гостя я ставлю маленькую тарелку для хлеба, а справа бокал для вина, если мы его пьем. и я готова к приходу гостей
